History of Room 1520
Nestled in the West Loop neighborhood of Chicago, Room 1520 was previously a gear factory. Now restored, it is one of the most magical urban loft spaces to get married.
Venue Details
Voted “Best Place to Get Married in Chicago,” Room 1520 is a sprawling 4,000 square feet open floor plan and is spacious enough for a relatively large party of 150 people seated with space for a dance floor, or 120 people seated with a live band. There is a small area inside Room 1520 called “The Justine,” which holds up to 60 people and is perfect if you’re looking to hold a smaller wedding or gathering. This space is also perfect for people to mingle during cocktail hour during the room flip if you opt to have both your ceremony and reception at Room 1520, like most people do.
Included in the floor plan is a 650-square-foot Green Room/Private Suite. This area includes a powder room, and has entrances to both the street and the venue. This is the perfect space for the couple to get ready with their wedding party, to hide before their first look, and to sit down between ceremony and reception away from the craziness of the cocktail hour and greeting their 100-something guests. I get it–you want to say hi to all those people, but maybe a moment to sit, breathe, and have some hors d’oeuvres first isn’t the worst idea!
Room 1520 is completely customizable and includes 11-foot and 17-foot ceilings, a vintage bar with beautiful white marble, and Italian crystal chandeliers that are dimmable, with LED color lighting throughout the area. Rectangular and Round tables are available for use and seat 8-10 guests per table. This provides the perfect “blank canvas” venue for you to make completely your own, perfect for any season, theme, and lighting situation.
Not to mention, the photo opportunities are endless! Every square inch of Room 1520 is extremely well lit and picturesque, including the outdoor spaces within and surrounding the venue. The rooftop and cityscape view is a perfect backdrop for any photo, and the back ivy alley is a great escape for a few more couples photos, your small wedding party, family, or just to set up a cigar bar and let people have some fresh air during the night.
And good news if you have a four-legged furry friend, pets are welcome to join for ceremonies.
Cost of a wedding at Room 1520
Room 1520 offers a 25% discount from the venue fee for weekend events held between December and March.
Pricing varies on the day you book, but Sundays are the cheapest option at $5,500, Fridays are $6,000 and Saturdays are $8,000 (as of April 2023).
To make things go as smoothly as possible, the venue also offers several top-shelf packages for bartenders and libations, and is partnered up with an incredible planning/coordination team, Urban Allure Events. This is perfect as everything needed for your event is on-site and there’s no stress of trying to collaborate with a third-party source.
Parking and Security
A venue supervisor will be available on-site for any emergencies or needs. For weekend evening events, up to 7 hours of security will be provided. Free A.M and P.M street parking is available for guests.
